I love the French custom of serving espresso with a sugar packet, a small spoon, and a small cookie. There is no sugar alternative, just white sugar. The cookie is the size of a quarter. You order a coffee, you get one cup. Coffee is not served as an endless cup, but each cup is prepared just for you. Some restaurants, reserve a section just for those having beverages – wine, coffee – and a different section for those having a meal. It’s a culture for sure.
